Welcome! I'm Zach. I play music, build software products, and teach and write about both. I joined Google in 2015, and I'm currently a Senior Software Engineer working on the Socratic team.

I also recently completed a non-degree Diploma in Piano Performance, working with Jeremy Denk and Jon Nakamatsu. My formative training was as a thirteen-year student of Natalie Maynard, one of the last students of Olga Samaroff. I've also had the privilege of studying under John McCarthy, Tom Schultz, and Frederic Chiu.

Previously, I studied Symbolic Systems at Stanford, a combination of cognitive science and computer science that remains difficult to explain. If you're interested, I recommend attempting to read Gödel, Escher, Bach.

When I'm not doing any of that, I ski, read, and watch sports and TV shows. Suggestions are always welcome.

You can find me on LinkedIn here and on Groupmuse here.
